We are a movement for all people to be awakened and strengthened in their faith.

ABOUT
awaken city
church
In 2014, God began to stir in Derek and Kristin’s heart a desire to move their lives to the Salt Lake area to serve and love the people there. Having never been to Salt Lake City and not knowing what ministry would look like, they took a trip out in early 2015, and after visiting the city, believed God was leading them to plant a church in the valley. In February of 2017 they moved to Herriman, UT where they were joined by four other families who also moved out to be a part of the church.
Driven by a passion to see the city of Herriman and the surrounding cities, come to experience the love of Jesus, they launched Awaken City Church on March 25, 2018.

What we Value

Commitment to God & His Word:
We want all that we do, inside and outside the church, to be centered on our love for and commitment to God and His revealed word to us: the Bible.

Joyful Generosity:
We want to use the resources God has given us to serve others and make Jesus known, by laying everything we possess on the table and giving with open hands and great joy.

Intentional Relationships:
We want to see every relationship as a God-given opportunity to point others toward the lasting hope & joy we have found in Jesus.

Multiplication:
We want to be a church that produces & reproduces followers of Jesus, resulting in new gospel works beginning in the surrounding communities.

What to expect
Where do I go?
We meet every Sunday at 10:30am at 15856 S Rockwell Park Cove. Park in front of our building or in the connected lots on either side, then enter through the main doors under the Awaken City sign.

Once inside, you'll enter our lobby. The Worship Center is to your left, and the Awaken City Kids area is toward the back right. You'll also find our team at the welcome area, where you can grab some coffee and donut holes, ask questions, or just say hey.
What's a Sunday like?
Our Sunday gathering lasts around 1 hour and 15 minutes. We spend time singing together, praying, and hearing a message from the Bible. Our teaching is typically verse-by-verse through a book of the Bible and focused on understanding God's Word and how it shapes our everyday lives.
What do I do with my kids?
We love kids at Awaken City! Awaken City Kids provides a safe, fun, age-appropriate environment where your kids can learn about Jesus on their level. When you enter the lobby, the Kids area is located toward the back right. Our team will help you check in your children and show you where their classrooms are. Children from birth to Kindergarten can be checked in as soon as you arrive, while those in 1st through 5th grade will stay with you and then be dismissed during the teaching time of our gathering.
Every Awaken City Kids adult volunteer is background-checked, and we use a secure check-in and pick-up system so you can worship knowing your kids are being well cared for. If it's your first Sunday, we recommend pre-registering your children by clicking the link below, or arriving about 15 minutes early so you'll have plenty of time to get your kids checked in.

What should I wear?
Don’t feel like you have to dress up. Most people wear casual attire, but you are welcome to wear whatever makes you comfortable.
Can I listen to a message before I come?
Absolutely! Each week we post the most recent message from our Sunday gathering or you can browse past messages online to get a feel for what the teaching is like at Awaken City. You can find all of those by clicking here.
What if I’m not sure what I believe?
That's okay. You don't have to believe what we believe or have everything figured out before you come. Awaken City is a place where you can come as you are, ask honest questions, and explore what the Bible says about Jesus.
Whether you come from another faith background, grew up in church, haven't been in years, or have never stepped foot in a church before, you're welcome here. We won't put you on the spot or pressure you to participate. You're welcome to simply come, listen, and see for yourself.
